On February 2, 2012, Allison’s Gourmet Kitchen of Moore, Oklahoma has recalled prepared salads because their egg supplier, Michael Foods, Inc., has recalled many lots of their hard cooked eggs because of the possible contamination of Listeria monocytogenes.
The recalled salads were distributed to Texas, Oklahoma, Alabama, Kansas, Illinois, Louisiana, Nebraska, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Pennsylvania, Florida, Tennessee and Missouri retail stores and food service companies.
Listeria monocytogenes can cause listeriosis. Symptoms of listeriosis include: fever, muscle aches, fatigue, nausea, vomiting, confusion, loss of balance and consulsions. More serious syptoms can occur if pregnant, such as a miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth, or septicemia (blood infection) or meningitis in the newborn.
