On January 22, 2014, Lochiel Enterprises, of Sherbroke, Nova Scotia, Canada, announced a recall for its St Mary’s River Smokehouses Oven Smoked Atlantic Salmon Stix, Chili Mango Flavor, because the product may be contaminated with the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes.
According to the Food and Drug Administration (FDA), the recalled salmon product was distributed to five states including: Maine, New Hampshire, Massachusetts, Vermont, and New York; and could be purchased in retail stores. Information for the recalled product is as follows:
“The product comes in a 4oz, black Styrofoam tray with an outer sleeve bearing the UPC Code 6 2642510092 9. The recall is specific to product marked with the production code 347 31## on a sticker on the end of the styrofoam tray.”
