On May 18, 2011, Schratter Foods Incorporated issued a recall for “Quenby Hall Blue Stilton Cheese” due to the possibility that the product is contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes.
“Quenby Hall Blue Stilton Cheese” has been distributed nationwide in retail stores.
The cheese is sold in bulk (Round Half 8.5-9.6 lbs) and in various weight wedge cuts with UPC 0813555010000. The UPC label states “Imported by: ANCO Fine Cheese” and the affected lots are 019 through 034. The lots also are marked with an expiration date of 6/15/2011 through 6/29/2011.
It is possible to buy the product cut at retail from bulk or from pre-cut wedges.
Listeriais a bacterium that can cause a serious and potentially fatal infection in young children, the elderly, and the immunocompromised.
