May 28, 2009: Recall Issued For Sprouts Due To Listeria Concerns

A recall has been issued for Chang Farm’s Bean and Soy sprouts, because the sprouts may be contaminated with the foodborne pathogen Listeria monocytogenes.

The recalled sprouts, produced by Chang Farm, River Road, Whatley, MA, were packed in 10 lb bags and 12 oz plastic bags and labeled under the Chang Farm Brand.  The Soy Sprout packages bear “Sell By” dates of May 23 or May 24, 2009; and the Bean Sprouts bear “Use By” dates of May 23 or Mary 25, 2009.

The sprouts were distributed to retail stores and restaurants throughout Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Jersey, and New York.  Consumers are warned to not eat the recalled sprouts.
