Smoked Salmon Recall Announcement – On December 28, 2012, Delifish S.A. recalled lots 249 to 291 of cold smoked salmon products due to the threat of Listeria monocytogenes contamination.
Smoked Salmon Recall Information
The recalled lots were distributed to 11 states including: CA, VA, OH, IL, FL, GA, TX, DE, NJ, NY, PA, and Puerto Rico. Delifish lists the smoked salmon recall products under the following brand names: Black Bear of the Black Forest Smoked Salmon, Food Service Cold Smoked Salmon Trim, Einstein Darn Good, Food Service Whole Smoked, Silver Source Smoked Salmon, Royal Fjord Smoked Toppers, and Royal Fjord Sliced Smoked Salmon Loin. All recalled products were manufactured in between September 5th and October 17th 2012.
About Listeria
Initial symptoms may include fever, muscle aches, fatigue, and sometimes gastrointestinal symptoms, such as nausea, vomiting, or diarrhea. If the infection spreads to the nervous system, symptoms may include headache, stiff neck, confusion, loss of balance, or convulsions. Infected pregnant women may experience only mild flu-like symptoms; however, infections during pregnancy can lead to miscarriage, premature delivery, stillbirth, or septicemia (blood infection) or meningitis in the newborn.
